Cardus NextGEN is a year-long, leadership development opportunity for professional Christians aged 25 – 34.
Fellows join other young leaders from across Canada to explore the relevance and resources of the Christian faith for their vocations and for public life today.
Each class of Fellows participates in a week-long seminar on Christian social and political thought in Ottawa, as well as four weekends across Canada, and monthly Zoom Connects with guest speakers to discuss vocation, leadership, faith and public life, and public policy.
Each participant receives a mentor, an extensive curriculum of readings for the year, and a stipend of $1,000. Transportation and accommodation expenses are covered by the program for all Fellows.
The Fellowship is designed to create a supportive learning community for intellectual and spiritual growth. Discussion topics include, among others: Vocation as Servant Leadership; A Christian View of Statecraft and the Social Order; Principles of Protestant and Catholic Social Thought; Faith, Economics, and the Public Good; and Perspectives on Contemporary Public Policy Issues.
Applicants for Fellowships come from a diversity of academic, vocational, and professional backgrounds, including business, law, government, economics, communications and media, and more.
The mission of the program is to equip emerging leaders with the resources, networks, and formation they seek to excel in their own spheres of influence as servant leaders in God’s world.
